Project Overview

This family’s vision was to build a new 2-story home on the property they purchased in Ohio. Their design was intended to feature a three-bedroom Suite, an additional guest bedroom, 5-1/2 bathrooms, and a 3-1/2 garage stall. The home also required an accessible design for an occupant with special needs. All areas were designed for aging-in-place.

Preliminary Planning

This phase initiates the design process. The information gathered from our client’s completed one-of-a-kind, Design Criteria Form is invaluable in this stage and all future stages.

Schematic Design

This phase focuses on the floor plan layout. Though we give consideration to the exterior shell and structure, the primary emphasis is the size and spatial relationship of the rooms. We want to ensure the space will function in a way that best suits the people living in it.

Design Development

This phase results in photo-realistic views of the exterior of the home. We create exciting images that convey the home in a life-like way. This is also the phase where the architectural drawings are developed in greater detail. The drawings at the completion of this phase represent roughly 80% of a full construction document set.

Construction Documents

In the final phase of the process, we continue to build information into the DD drawing set. The resulting deliverable is a full set of construction documents that can be used for bidding, permitting, and construction. Of course our relationship doesn’t end here. We’re always available to answer any questions and oversee the quality of construction.
