Project Overview

Fidei Architecture partnered with the Cleveland Browns to design a new church for Mt. Zion Baptist in Berea, Ohio. The Cleveland Browns were seeking to expand their practice facility by purchasing adjacent properties. Mt. Zion was situated on one of these adjacent parcels and agreed to a deal with the Cleveland Browns to relocate to a nearby site.

Preliminary Planning

Fidei Architecture was provided with a program of wants and needs for the church. The proposed size and amenities were a key factor in the negotiations with the Cleveland Browns. Fidei Architecture was tasked with creating an exciting plan that would encourage them to move out of their longtime location.

Schematic Design

Fidei Architecture provided sketches and presentation images for a new one-story facility. Fidei Architecture presented these images to the church board and members to elicit feedback and earn their buy-in. Fidei Architecture also worked with and presented to the Berea Zoning Commission to gain their approval.

Design Development

The commentary from the zoning meeting led to minor revisions. Fidei Architecture developed DD drawings that detailed the construction in a way that would fit within the fixed budget. MEP engineers were hired to assist with the MEP design.

Construction Documents

The design team worked diligently to complete the construction documents in a very timely manner. The Bid/Permit/Construction set was finished in less than eight weeks from the date the contract was signed by Mt. Zion and the Cleveland Browns.
